It was a riot of colour and style on the ramp for designers Shyamal and Bhumika who recreated the Festival of Colours at LAKMÉ Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2010 with their Holi collection. Long line resort gowns were splashed with a colour blitz, frothy dresses, tiny bikinis with micro shorts, tie-up printed tops. Beach comber shifts, halter maxis, capris, with extended waistbands, tiny minis and kaleidoscopic printed tunics all made a perfect resort offering. Adding on one solitary men’s outfit the duo gave the same multi coloured treatment to the shirt with comfortable linen calf length trousers.
The colour story list was long and vibrant – grape, flame, fuchsia, purple and black along with bright acid tones of citrus were a clever cocktail of hues. The fabrics matched the flow and fluidity of the garments – cotton, satin, georgette, crepe with an amazing assortment of prints added to the summer mood of the creations.
Handkerchief hem dresses, paneled midis, cowled pyjamas and dresses, bikini tops with cowl pants, an orange cocktail dress in crepe silk, a sexy black sequined yoke digitally printed silk dress, a sultry cutout printed gown and a one shoulder maxi completed the collection, which was pure resort wear with lots of luxurious elegance.
Putting together a perfect holiday line, Shyamal and Bhumika scored high on the wearer’s list of “must haves” when the mercury soars in the coming months.
