Kendrick David Kemp, the winner of the Male Model MuseCompetition at the Islands of the World Fashion Week held in November, 2009, has been selected by the Miss World Bahamas organizers to represent The Bahamas at the Mr. World Competition scheduled to be held on Saturday, 27th March, in Incheon, South Korea. Mr. Kemp leaves The Bahamas for South Korea on 11th March to prepare for the final and participate in a number of preliminary events.
Mr. Kemp won the title of Male Model Muse during the finals of The Muse Model Search Competition as a part of the Islands of theWorld Fashion Week. He was chosen over eight finalistsrepresenting The Bahamas, Barbados, Haiti, St. Kitts & Nevis, andTrinidad & Tobago. The title of Female Model Muse was won by Giovara Gertruida of Curacao.
The winners of the Muse Model Search Competition receive a cash prize and become the face of Islands of the World Fashion Week for the ensuing year. In addition they appear in promotional campaigns for designers and sponsors, and travel with the team onthe newly launched Islands of the World Fashion Tour, with scheduled appearances in Palm Springs, California, Chicago, and Miami. Mr. Kemp has also been recently featured on the runway of the Joann Berman show during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York in February, 2010.
Mr. Kemp states that he is "looking forward to representing The Bahamas proudly at Mr. World. I feel that I truly embody the characteristics for which the competition is known, namely identifying that man in the world who can best show his 'strength, stamina, mental agility and determination to succeed in the face of adversity'.
