Damco was appointed by Hennes & Mauritz (H&M), the world's third-biggest clothing retailer as its supply chain management partner in India and Pakistan. Damco will be responsible for the management of H&M’s consolidation programme.
This is an extension to H&M’s and Damco’s current collaboration that already covers H&M’s operations in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Vietnam, and Thailand.
Martin Thaysen, Damco Chief Commercial Officer, says: “We are very pleased to take on this great opportunity, growing our relationship with H&M. We have long lasting relationship with H&M, and look forward to provide H&M with our services in these additional markets, supporting H&M's growth.
“Damco will support H&M with an on-location team in India and Pakistan. Their focus will be to implement and deliver to the sharp operational KPIs, and continue to support further optimisation, performance and cost reductions in H&M’s supply chain.
“We will have the new setup and the related processes in place and finalised by mid September, ahead of H&M’s peak season. The success ratio of an error-free migration will be ensured by a strong team effort between H&M representatives and an experienced Damco implementation team supporting in Hong Kong and Stockholm.”
Damco is the new, combined brand of the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group's logistics activities, currently known as Maersk Logistics and Damco.
