Germany:Hohenstein merges material testing department with itself

Under the auspices of the strategic development of the Hohenstein Institute, the testing and services offered by the Material Testing Department were amalgamated in the Hohenstein Textile Testing Institute GmbH & Co. KG as of 1 December 2008. Among these are all laboratory tests for classic materials testing, the testing and certification of textiles in accordance with the Oeko-Tex Standard 100, and testing of personal protective equipment and feathers and down.

Another service is the inspection and auditing of production sites in all the major textile manufacturing countries. These audits are commissioned mainly by importers in Europe and the US. The business manager of the new company will be Lutz Seifert. Dr. Siegfried Glander will continue to be responsible for technical direction. Hohenstein Institute Director Dr. Stefan Mecheels says the aim of the restructuring is the formation of operatively and independently acting company divisions for services that actually belong together.

With this modern and flexible organisation of its German headquarters and with 19 branch offices in 16 countries, the Hohenstein Institute is further strengthening its position as a world-wide partner of the textile and garment industry – including retail trade, when it comes to issues of quality, harmlessness to human health, and socially acceptable conditions of production.
