USA:Different facets of Japanese fashion at PMX Fashion Show

Three of Japan's top brand designers will appear together for the first time in the United States at Pacific Media Expo on Nov. 6-8 at the Hilton Los Angeles Airport. Maki and Asuka will return to PMX, joined by Takuya Angel and GASHIKON. Each Guest of Honor will participate in the first PMX Fashion Show and host panels and other activities.

"This is a rare chance for American fans of Japanese street fashion to interact with the designers of their favorite clothes and get an exclusive first look at their latest creations," said Elizabeth Paulsen, PMX Fashion Liaison.

Each clothing line represents different facets of Japanese fashion.

"I'm really excited at the line-up for the first Pacific Media Expo Fashion Show; this is the first time anyone in the U.S. has seen anything like this before," said Mike Tatsugawa, PMX Event Director. "We've sought to round out our presentation with a wide range of cutting-edge fashions from Japan. Angelic Pretty represents the Sweet Lolita fashions you see so often in Harajuku, Takuya Angel is very popular in Shibuya and pulls influences from East and West and the past and present, and Hangry & Angry resonates strongly with the younger J-Rock crowd."

Iconic brand Angelic Pretty is the leading purveyor of Sweet Lolita, which emphasizes Victorian-style dress and aims to convey the look and innocence of exquisite porcelain dolls. Maki and Asuka, returning to PMX for the second time in three years, will welcome special guest Tarina Tarantino to the Wonderland Tea Party, a unique opportunity for fans to gain insight into the designers' creative processes while indulging in the ambience of an Alice in Wonderland-themed event. Tickets are available now.

"Under Maki and Asuka, Angelic Pretty has defined Sweet Lolita by pushing the boundaries with new color combinations, charming accessories, unconventional dress designs, and intricate custom-designed fabrics," said Paulsen. "Tarina Tarantino's acclaimed, signature couture complements Angelic Pretty's trademark style, and Tea Party attendees will be able to witness the designers sharing ideas."

Hangry & Angry, distributed by avant-garde label h.NAOTO, is based on two gurokawa style namesake characters. The term 'Hangry' refers to a feeling of being angry and hungry at the same time. Designer GASHIKON appears courtesy of Cure Media.

Name-label designer Takuya Angel boasts a signature aesthetic which blends neo-western elements and traditional Japanese designs. The designer will be premiering 10 original outfits exclusively at the PMX Fashion Show and will also display his creativity by spinning the turntables at the PMX Dance.
