Canada:Fourth season of Ottawa Fashion Week

Fourth season of Ottawa Fashion Week

Fourth season of Ottawa Fashion Week

The Ottawa Fashion Week (OFW) Committee will once again bring fashion to Canada’s capital! OFW Spring/Summer 2011 Fashion Week will be held at the National Gallery of Canada from October 29-31, 2010.

Ottawa Fashion Week first came onto the scene as a platform for Fall/Winter '09 collections and has since proved to be a strong component of the city's style scene. Managed by a dedicated and passionate team, OFW is able to bring fashion to the arts community with each season it undertakes. OFW has quickly established itself as a regular avenue for designers to present their collections and instantly captivate a continuously growing audience.

As the event grows stronger with each successful season, its ambition and purpose remains the same: to showcase both established designers and newcomers in a community environment where they can join the rest of Ottawa in supporting the creative and multi-dimensional art form that is called fashion.

Since its inauguration in 2007, OFW has experienced substantial growth. The first event had a modest participation of 900 attendees. In 2008, there was a 40% increase in attendance with a final total of 1,500 participants. March 2010, saw an astonishing boost in attendance of 2,400. In future, there is a confident expectation of further exceeding previous years’ attendance through increased marketing expenditure. We estimate that roughly 65% of attendees are fashion conscious individuals, with women comprising 75% of the audience.

This season, OFW will feature up-and-coming designers as well as established favourites
and promises to deliver a week of style, glamour and sophistication. Attendees will get a
sneak peek of the hottest spring and summer trends to come next year and will have the chance to mingle with some of Ottawa’s most fashion- worthy individuals.

“The OFW team is excited to be presenting its fourth season at the National Gallery of Canada,” said founder and organizer Hussein Rashid. “Fortunately for us, the attendance keeps growing so it’s important that we accommodate that larger audience. The Gallery is the perfect fit for us right now.”
