India:Pearl student to partake at Triumph Inspiration Award 2010

Ms. Yadvi Aggarwal, a fashion design student (FD 07-11) of Pearl Academy of Fashion will now represent India at International round of Triumph Inspiration Award 2010 in September 2010 in London after winning the National Round in Mumbai recently.

The concept of Yadvi’s design is “Back to the Basics” which is derived not only from the mother earth and its magnificent forms but is a parable; the moral of the story is the need for sustainability. It is the time to start caring for the earth that gave us birth. In her work, Yadvi used a hand woven fabric – blend of natural fibers cotton and silk that is dyed naturally which in other way promotes the work on handlooms. The design is sustainable since it can be worn in various ways with a strong concern for the future.

Triumph Inspiration award challenges students to be creative and have fun while interpreting the one special design theme using all their talent, creativity and inspiration. They are asked to create one lingerie showpiece, either a bra & brief set or a one-piece body.

Initially, all participants compete on a national level. Yadvi won the National round and winning the national final automatically qualifies her for the international final being held in different inspiring mega cities every year. The winner of the final round will receive prize money of 15,000 Euro.

The winners of the Triumph Inspiration Award will have their design adapted and fully realized into a commercial garment. This garment will be produced in limited edition and will be sold in selected Triumph stores worldwide.
